CSA Newsletter Week 9

Happy Birthday Waylon!

July Morning

CSA pick-up July 27 & 30

Many of you see our son, Waylon, at the CSA pick-ups each week, and this Monday when you see him, be sure to wish him a happy birthday!  Waylon turns 2 tomorrow, July 27th, and we’ve spent the weekend celebrating him with friends, family, big bubbles and good food.  It seems like both yesterday and forever ago that he was born here on the farm in the middle of our first CSA season.  Some of you were members then, and we still appreciate the helping hands of members who showed up to help out in the fields in the weeks after his birth.  We are so grateful for the community that has continued to grow since our first season, and are excited to share in the many ways that community creates bounty in both food and relationships.

As we round out the first half of the CSA, the tomatoes and pepper are making their debut in the shares.  This week will be our first harvest of each, and depending on our harvest it might be a choice between the two.  Soon, though, the fruits draping from the plants will all ripen, and we’ll all be rolling in the goodness.  We thank you for your patience as we all anticipate the ripening!

Well, the soon-to-be two-year-old is finally asleep after a big day, and so I’m going to leave this note off here.  We look forward to seeing you all at pick-up.

This week’s Harvest:
Tomatoes/Peppers
Lettuce head
Cabbage
Carrots
Zucchini/Summer Squash
Kale
Herbs–parsley or basil

In Good Heart,
Katie and Edge
