CSA Newsletter: Week 16

Farm Pizza Night this Friday
CSA Pick-up September 14& 17

We’re enjoying an overcast Sunday here on the farm.  All day the cloud line has hidden the Worcester range from view, while the muted gray of the sky enhances the vibrancy of the sunflowers and zinnias.  Ahead us this afternoon is a few hours of pesto making (basil spinach pesto for the Fall Harvest CSA), so I’ll get right to it:

This Friday is our Farm Pizza Night.  Come up to Good Heart on Friday between 5:00-8:00 for wood-fired farm pizza, tours, and September views of the Worcester mountain range.  This night is a fundraiser for the NOFA-VT Farm Share Program, and all profits go to subsidize CSAs.  Please come with your friends and family and help us increase local food accessibility in Central VT.

Our chicken slaughter/processing date has been pushed to Monday, the 21st.  We’ll have fresh chicken for sale that week, and if you’d like to secure a certain amount, we are still taking pre-orders for chicken.  The CSA member price for fresh chicken is $5.50/lb or $5/lb when you order ten or more.  (Non-member price is $5.95 or $5.50 for ten or more).  Until then, our chicken sale continues at $4.95/lb (a special price only for CSA members!)

Don’t forget to sign up for the Fall Harvest Share!  The share runs for 12 weeks, from October 1 through December 22.  Montpelier pick-up will be on Mondays at the Skinny Pancake from 4:30-6:30, and Worcester pick-up will be at the farm for the month of October, then at the Worcester Town Hall November-December.  You can sign up on our website, or talk to us at pick-up.

We’ll see you at the pick-ups!

In Good Heart,
Katie and Edge
