CSA Day is this Friday

Help us kickstart the season with your CSA sign up!

February greetings from Good Heart!  We are excited to start our first round of seeds this week: tomatoes, peppers and onions will soon be sprouting.  As we begin seeding, we invite you to join us in starting the 2016 CSA season strong by signing up for your share on CSA Day, this Friday.

What is CSA Day?  CSA Day is a national CSA sign-up day.  It was started by Small Farm Central after their research showed that the end of February is the most popular time for customers to sign up for their shares.

This is the time when we need your support.  CSAs are designed for the community to support the farmer early in the year, and for the farmer to in turn support the community throughout the growing season.  Your CSA sign up in February and March directly supports the success of our season.  From buying propane to heat the greenhouse to buying potting soil, compost, seed trays, and more, your CSA membership will go right into the growing of your food.

To celebrate CSA Day, we are giving a $10 coupon to our farm stand to everyone who signs up for a share on Friday, 2/26.

Thank you to everyone who has already bought a CSA membership for 2016!  Please help us grow our community by sharing this with your friends and family who may be interested in purchasing a CSA share.

And don’t forget: This Saturday is our 4th Annual Farmstead 5k!  Join us for a fun romp through the woods as we raise money for the NOFA Vermont Farm Share Program.  Together, we can make local food more accessible to low-income Vermonters.

We wish you all a wonderful week, and thank you for being part of a community in good heart!

In Good Heart,
Katie and Edge

WHY CHOOSE GOOD HEART?
CSA is what we do.  CSA is our number one priority, and rather than bring our prettiest produce to the farmers market or ship it through wholesalers, we give our members the first pick and highest quality of our harvest.

We grow more than vegetables.  To us, the core of a farm is community, and we strive to grow a community that feeds the bodies, minds, and spirits of all its members.

Our tagline, “local food for everyone”, says it all.  Our mission is to make local food accessible to everyone, no matter what your income is.  We hold two annual fundraisers and partner with the NOFA-Vermont Farm Share Program in order to subsidize CSA shares for our neighbors who otherwise would not be able to afford them.  We donate produce to the Worcester Food Shelf weekly through the summer growing season, and encourage those who are able to purchase a “donation” share for the Food Shelf or similar organization that distributes food to those in need.  In this way, we all act together to increase local food access.
