Are you looking to get your hands in the soil and learn more about the farm? Join us next Friday from 2:00-5:00 for a volunteer party. We’re planning on harvesting the garlic, a big and exciting job! Come learn how to harvest, clean and cure the garlic crop with us.
Join us for a casual evening and CSA picnic on Thursday, August 4th. Come for a farm tour and barbecue potluck, meet fellow Good Heart Members, and enjoy a beautiful evening on the farm. Bring a side dish to share, and favorite recipes to swap!
Mark your calendar for our 3rd annual Pizza Night Fundraiser on Friday, September 16th. Open to the whole community, this is our foliage time fundraiser for the NOFA-VT Farm Share Program, which helps us offer subsidized shares to low-income community members.
We are excited to offer a 3-day pizza-oven workshop with mason Duffy Gardner September 30-October 2. Participants will have a hands-on opportunity to work closely with a stone mason to build a bake oven out of native and reclaimed materials. We’ll use on-site stone, earth, clay and antique brick to construct a dome-style oven which will accommodate small scale production baking, roasting and slow cooking.
- Overview: Using dry-laid and clay mortar techniques, we’ll build a stone base, a brick hearth and dome and a stone exterior cladding oven very much like ovens built in Italy for over 2000 years. Participants will be able to see, do and discuss all phases of the project, and upon completion be knowledgable of key concepts of traditional masonry and dome oven construction.
- About the instructor: Duffy trained under two master masons in both dry-laid stone walling and traditional masonry, and he works full-time building with stone and brick in the local community. Three of his ovens are in full-time use with professional bakers.
- Workshop cost: $185 if paid in full by August 31 / $215 after Aug. 31
- Registration will be up on our website soon!
We hope to see you at these events! Have a lovely weekend!
