Increasing Food Access w/Maple Corner Community Store

How are you doing?

With the Governor’s new Stay Home, Stay Safe Executive Order, we know stress may have crept up since last week.

We also know that stress isn’t great for health — and we have an option to help decrease your need to venture to the grocery store.

If you’re a Montpelier Farm Share Member, you can now make grocery orders from Maple Corner Community Store, and we’ll deliver your order with your Farm Share every Monday.

Here’s how it works:

Check out MCCS’s inventory, and call to place your order by 12noon on Mondays.  You’ll pay over the phone, and Jamie and Caity at MCCS will pack up your groceries for you.

Edge will pick up your order on his way into town on Monday, and he’ll have it ready for you with your Farm Share.

Easy peasy!  We hope this helps you decrease your necessary trips and stay well-stocked.

Like many Vermonters, we’re adjusting to life with our son at home and both of us working full time.

With Farms and CSAs included as essential businesses, we’re lucky to be able to run the business without physically engaging with customers (though we sure miss talking with you at the normal pick-ups!).

We’ll continue growing, harvesting, packing your shares and delivering to ensure you get fresh food each week.

Meanwhile, we’re both learning deeper lessons in patience when it comes to balancing family and work.

If you find yourself in the same boat, know that it’s okay to feel everything.

It’s okay to take a walk when you need one, to lock the bathroom door when you need a minute alone without your kids, to let them watch a show so you can listen to a podcast and take space for yourself (or is it just me who’s doing this?)

And at the end of the day, remember the joy and grounding of cooking.

The nourishment of coming together around the table and sharing a meal.  That’s not going away.

Food is something we can steady ourselves with — the simple acts of chopping, tossing, sautéing, baking, roasting, and eating.

We’re so grateful for you.  Thank you for being part of Good Heart, for choosing us to grow for you, and for giving us the opportunity to be part of your nourishment.

Stay safe, be well, and enjoy this week’s harvest.

In Good Heart,
Kate & Edge
