April 30th CSA Deadline

CSA Price increases on May 1st

and: GMO action alert!

Monday morning sun; we’re prepping the fields for the first big round of transplants this week.

The last week of April is here, and that means it’s the last week to get your CSA Share at $450 for the whole season.  On May 1st the price increases to $495.  So sign up today (or at least by Saturday) to lock in your price!  While full payment is greatly appreciated, payment plans are available, and you will secure a share at the early spring rate with a $150 deposit.

Payment Plans for the Veggie and Herb CSA are as follows: $150 down-payment at sign-up, and two payments of $150, due June 1 and August 3.  Checks can be made payable to Good Heart Farmstead L3C.  If you are using the payment plan, please send all post-dated checks together.

In other important news, there is a major threat to Vermont’s GMO Labeling Law brewing behind the scenes in the Statehouse.

Rural Vermont’s most recent newsletter let us know: “Lobbyists for the industrial food corporations are stalking the halls of our State House just as they have been in the halls of Congress. They are asking our Senate to give special treatment to their clients by attaching an amendment to the “must-pass” annual budget bill that would threaten VT’s historic law giving us all the right to know if food sold in Vermont has been genetically engineered. Vermont’s law is scheduled to go into effect in less than three months on July 1, 2016.”

To be clear, ANY amendment to this law threatens its ability to stand up in court and opens doors for the industrial food industry to pull it apart all together.  PLEASE call your senators and urge them to keep Vermont’s GMO Labeling Bill intact!  You can find more information here: VT Right to Know

Thank you for supporting sustainable, regenerative agriculture in Vermont!  We hope you all have a healthy and delicious week.

In Good Heart,
Katie and Edge
