Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 28 and join us at Doty Memorial School for a Memorial Day Plant Sale. We’ll have a wide assortment of vegetables, herbs and flowers, from tomatoes, onions, kale and cucumbers to basil, thyme, sunflowers, zinnias, and more. AND we’re donating 10% of our proceeds to the Doty Local Foods Fund, which gets more local food into the school lunches.
We love making community connections like this. Our farm mission is to make local food more accessible to all income levels, and when we work together, our strides become greater.
On that note, we want to thank a community member who has donated a CSA share to the Worcester Food Shelf for the fourth year in a row! Her generous donation is another great way that community members, farmers and volunteers work together to get fresh, local food to more people.
If you’d like to help us increase local food access, consider becoming part of the Good Heart CSA Core Group. The Core Group is 4-8 members who meet a few times a year with the goal of strengthening the CSA by increasing transparency between the farm and it’s members, by helping grow the CSA membership, and helping the farm meet its mission of increasing local food to low-income Vermonters. We are looking for 2-4 more people who want to dig into the workings of the farm and become members of the Core Group. If you’re interested in learning more, please email us at goodheartfarmstead@gmail.com.
And don’t forget: the price of the CSA increases on May 1st, so sign up for your share today for the best price! While payment in full is greatly appreciated, a depost of $150 will reserve your spot and lock in the price of $450.
We look forward to growing for you this season!
In Good Heart,
Katie and Edge
